During the fall of 2013, 130 refurbished tennis racquets were donated to athletes involved in the Special Olympics of Southern California. This year, Noah Morrow, a long-standing Paseo Club member, is hoping to surpass those numbers.
Morrow, a member of the Boys Varsity Tennis Team at West Ranch High School, came up with the idea of donating racquets while volunteering for Santa Clarita’s chapter of the Special Olympics. Introduced to the organization through his brother, Jared, Noah realized that the athletes were in need of more than just coaching. Many of them also needed racquets.
For the racquet donation drive, Noah also collaborates with First Serve Tennis Shop and the manufacturers of Prince tennis racquets. For each racquet donated, Prince will supply new grips, and First Serve will regrip and string every one at no cost.
Those wishing to make a donation should deposit their used child and/ or adult tennis racquets that are in good condition to the collection bin located at the Club. The donation drive will continue through the middle of December.
